None of the Madison County high school baseball teams won district titles in 2018, but there were plenty of players from the area who were recognized this spring with All-Ohio honors from the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association.
Jonathan Alder shortstop Preston Eisnaugle repeated as a first team All-Ohio selection after hitting .435 (30 for 69), scoring 30 runs and driving in 19.
The Pioneers Logan Smith was a honorable mention All-Ohio pick as a pitcher. He had eight wins this season with a minuscule 1.31 ERA.
West Jefferson had one of the best seasons in school history (26-2) and a quartet of Roughriders came away with All-Ohio honors.
The trio of pitcher Cade Brintlinger, pitcher/first baseman Shane Gray and outfielder/pitcher Jake Boyd were all named to the state’s D-III second team, while Connor Shields was placed in the honorable mention All-Ohio.
