Darby Grace welcomes new pastor

Darby Grace Brethren Church, 9899 U.S. Route 42 South, Plain City, has just elected a new lead pastor, Dan Hermiz.

Hermiz was formerly on staff at Grace Polaris, where he served for 15 years primarily as a worship leader, but gained valuable experience in multiple ministry capacities.

“Over the years, his appetite for learning, along with interests in music, and theology, have developed his passion to help people from all walks of life come to know and find joy in Jesus Christ,” a spokesperson said.

Hermiz and his wife of 12 years, Jill, are lifelong Columbus natives, but are described as having “small-town hearts.” Along with their four kids, they are looking forward to moving into the Plain City area as soon as possible.

“Many churches today have become institutions for social and/or political change, rather than gospel-centered, Christ-exalting bodies of believers,” Hermiz stated. “I believe that obedience to Christ, faithfulness to the Scriptures, and the spreading of the good news should be more important to us than meeting a bottom line.”

Hermiz teams with Associate Pastor Jeff Hughes to complete the pastoral staff at Darby Grace.

Hughes has a bachelor’s degree from Cedarville University in Pastoral Ministry, with minors in youth ministry and Christian education. Before joining Darby Grace, he served at Amelia Methodist Church. He currently lives in Plain City with his wife Sheila and one child.

Darby Grace is a Bible-based, Bible-teaching church that believes that God working through the local church is the hope of the world.

Darby Grace will hold a re-dedication service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 12. The public is invited to attend.
