Deputy cited in London crash

An on-duty Madison County’s sheriff’s deputy was involved in a three-car accident in London Friday morning.

The crash occurred at about 9:30 a.m. on Lafayette Street in front of the Madison County-London City Health District, according to Officer Aaron Ansel of the London Police Department.

A local family with several children was driving in two vehicles — a Ford Explorer and a Kia sportswagon.

The two vehicles were stopped for another car when the cruiser, driven by Deputy Brian Duffey, struck the rear of the Kia, pushing it into the Explorer.

Duffey was transported to Madison Health to be checked for minor injuries.

No serious injuries were sustained, Ansel said.

Duffey was cited with failing to maintain an assured clear distance ahead.
