Cobra show returning to downtown

The raffle car for the London Cobra Show is a 20th anniversary, limited edition Cobra built by Super Performance. All proceeds from the raffle benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Cobras will parade into London at 10 a.m.

Can you hear the roar? The Cobras are coming.

The London Cobra Show, hosted annually in London by the Ohio Cobra Club, will take place Saturday in downtown.

All Cobras will make their grand entrance around 10 a.m. Their parade will form at the Speedway store on U.S. Route 42 near Interstate 70. The cars will parade west on U.S. Route 40 and then proceed south on State Route 56. The rumble of their exhaust headers will present a sound unmatched in any car show.

This year, the show will feature a special raffle Cobra for its latest giveaway, which benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The car is a special, limited edition 20th anniversary car put together by Super Performance. The company is celebrating its 20th anniversary by building 20 of these cars. The London Cobra Show’s raffle car is number 7 of 20.

Ticket donation for this Super Performance Cobra — with a long list of extras — is $20 and may be purchased at the show. To “increase” an entrant’s odds of winning, the Ohio Cobra Club only prints 10,000 tickets.

The show will continue its unique feature of offering rides down a closed-off North Main Street in an array of hot Cobras. Donation for the ride is $10 and proceeds, as for the raffle tickets, will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

For anyone with a fair amount of mechanical ability and plenty of money to spend on a hobby, vendors will be on site to answer any questions about building one of these sports cars.

Attendance of participants is running at more than 170, noted George Daulton, president of the Ohio Cobra Club. Those enthusiasts hail from all around the United States.
