Skylar Stewart: Queen contestant

Skylar Stewart

My name is Skylar Stewart. I currently attend Madison-Plains High School where I will be a sophomore this year.

I plan to attend college and obtain a degree in art education. I would like to work with children in elementary school and help them express themselves through art.

In high school, I am a proud member of the Madison-Plains Marching Eagles for whom I twirl flag and play trumpet. I also participate in Concert Band, Spanish Club, Key Club, Science Club, Art Club, Civics English 1 Club and I was a member of the bowling team.

I am a Junior Varsity cheerleader for our football and basketball team as well. This year I was an honor roll student, I received the Eagle Pride Good Citizen Award, and the Eagle Pride Academic Excellence Award. I was also a Scholar Athlete and I earned the Scholastic Achievement Award.

In my down time I enjoy walking with animals and advancing my art skills. Art is like another language to me. It allows self expression and it has no boundaries and no language barriers, so it is universal! My time with animals equally inspires me. Animals never have a bad day and I look forward to seeing them just as much as they look forward to seeing me.

I am an active member in my community through 4-H, volunteering at my local community center and animal shelter. I also co-captained a team for the Take Steps for the Columbus Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. Helping to fund research and supporting those who have these diseases is very important to me. Last but not least I need to mention my family and friends. I wouldn’t be who I am without them.

It would be an honor to represent the Strawberry Festival and the city of London. In closing, I am Skylar, I believe in being a good role model, I love meeting new people, and I enjoy traveling. It would be a privilege to be your next “Miss Strawberry!”
