WJ farmers market kicks off Saturday

It’s the season for farmer’s markets.

The West Jefferson Farmer’s Market will kick-off this Saturday, and run for the next 18 weeks.

The market will take place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Organizer Bob Lust said 12 vendors would be present, including three with fresh vegetables. Baked goods and crafts will also be available.

“We’ve got a great variety this year,” Lust said.

The market is in its seventh year of its operation, and Lust said the shopper count was higher last year than ever before. He said the market will not include a honey vendor this year, because of misbehaving bees.

Lust said the vendors were ready to go.

“If the vendors are happy, we’re happy,” he said.

The farmer’s markets will be held rain or shine, Lust added.
