Cierra Fay Russell, 10, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Ohio Pageant to be held Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus.
The pageant is held for girls 4-18 years old.
She is the daughter of Cathy and Scott Russell.
Her activities include Starlight Twirlers, 4-H, church group, piano, music, singing, gymnastics, animals, swimming, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.
Her sponsors are Lovejoy’s Market, Luigi’s Pizza, State Farm Insurance, Dr. Elizabeth Odenweller, DDS, and Dr. James Hutta, DDS, orthodontist.
The newly crowned Miss Junior Preteen Ohio will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses, and air transportation to compete in the national pageant at Disneyland in California.
Contestants will compete in four categories including formal wear modeling, personal introduction, interview and community service project. National American Miss also offers optional contests at the top model search, talent, actress, and more.
The program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise and presentation. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence and learning new skills, such as good attitudes about competition, as well as setting and achieving personal goals.
