Plain City police warn of telephone scam

Staff report

The Plain City Police Department is warning residents of an IRS telephone scam that reached multiple village residents Friday.

The call is claiming that residents are delinquent on their taxes from 2010. The caller is claiming to be Steve Martin from the U.S. Treasury, and is telling residents they will be arrested if they do not comply.

Police say these callers are frauds, and advise residents not to give them any money.

If you have any information, or are a victim of this scam, contact the police department at 614-873-4321.
