Leadership in any endeavor is key. At Jonathan Alder High School six students in the band have been chosen to learn how to lead. Those Jonathan Alder students will attend a leadership camp this summer. It will be held Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26 at West Chester University in West Chester, Pa.
“This is an incredible opportunity where they will learn leadership skills that are useful both on and off the football field,” said Justin Hennig, band director.
Hennig said students leave their musical instruments at home. Rather, the camp mainly focuses on the merits of being a leader and how to apply that to the band ensemble.
The leadership camp has two parts: one is indoors and focuses on inspirational leadership. The other component is held outdoors where the students learn how to apply these concepts to marching band.
Students who will attend the camp include: Katie Davis, Emily Sollars, Danny Cooper, Nathan Uhrman, William Hanes and Lauren Sollars.
