BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio woman accused of suffocating her three young sons won’t go on trial until next year.
The Springfield News-Sun (http://bit.ly/29KTpDB ) reports that a judge on Tuesday rescheduled 24-year-old Brittany Pilkington’s trial from October to Feb. 27.
The Bellefontaine (behl-FOWN’-tihn) woman who has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder charges was in court Tuesday for what was to be the start of several court hearings on motions filed by her attorneys. The motions involve issues such as whether or not she should face a possible death penalty and genetic testing.
Prosecutors want to test Pilkington to rule out genetic disorders as a cause of death for the two infants and a toddler. Her attorneys say she doesn’t oppose that but wants her husband and their 5-year-old daughter tested with her and the boys.
This story has been corrected to show that prosecutors want tests to rule out genetic disorders as cause of death for the two infants and a toddler, not three toddlers.
