TRUMP IMMIGRATION-LOCAL ENFORCEMENT — President Donald Trump’s immigration order contains a return to a program that allows jail guards and local police to be deputized as immigration officers, harnessing the power of law enforcement in cities and towns to essentially be the deportation force the Republican touted in the campaign. The program is not without pitfalls, however.
