Man killed, woman hurt in South Carolina home invasion

HUGER, S.C. (AP) — Authorities are looking for five men in connection with a home invasion that left a man dead and a woman injured in South Carolina.

Berkeley County Chief Deputy Mike Cochran tells news media outlets that the victims were returning to their home in Huger in the Francis Marion National Forest about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, when the men confronted them.

Cochran says the men forced the man and woman inside and there was a fight. Twenty-seven-year-old Kadeem Johnson was shot and killed. The woman was taken to a hospital in Charleston. Her condition was not known.

The suspects fled in two cars they took from the home.

One car was stopped about 5 miles away and the men inside fled into the forest. Deputies are still looking for the other car.
