Six Ohio Wesleyan University softball players were named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference teams, it was announced this week.
Junior outfielder Ashley Day (Plain City/Jonathan Alder) and senior shortstop Taylor Dickson (Baltimore/Liberty Union) were first-team All-NCAC selections, junior outfielder Kayla Richard (Minster) was a second-team all-conference choice, and senior outfielder Amanda Boyle (Niagara Falls, N.Y.), junior catcher Erin Ferguson (Greenwich, Conn.), and freshman first baseman Kennedy Sattler (Oregon/Clay) were honorable mention picks.
Day batted .364 with 12 RBI and shared the team lead with 15 stolen bases this season. She is tied for third in the NCAC in stolen bases, is tied for seventh in on-base percentage, and ranks 13th in batting average. Day was a second-team All-NCAC pick in 2016.
Dickson batted .355 with 2 home runs and a team-best 33 RBI this season. She is tied for third in the NCAC in doubles (11) and is tied for fourth in RBI. Dickson was a second-team All-NCAC selection in 2015 and 2016.
Richard led the team with a .418 batting average, hit 2 home runs, and drove in 18 runs this season. She leads the league in on-base percentage (.540), ranks second in batting average and runs scored (35), third in slugging percentage (.582) and is tied for seventh in stolen bases (11).
Boyle batted .400 with 13 RBI and shared the team lead with 15 stolen bases this season. She is tied for third in the NCAC in stolen bases and ranks sixth in batting. Boyle was an honorable mention All-NCAC pick for the second straight year. Ferguson batted .361 with 2 home runs and 29 RBI this season. She is tied for third in the NCAC in doubles and ranks eighth in RBI and 14th in batting average. Ferguson was a second-team All-NCAC choice in 2016. Sattler batted .376, led the Bishops with 4 home runs, and knocked in 30 runs this season. She ranks seventh in the NCAC in RBI and 10th in batting average.
Ohio Wesleyan finished with a 17-18-1 overall record this season. The Battling Bishops finished in fifth place in the NCAC standings with a 9-7 record.
