The London Middle School seventh grade football team hosted Northeastern Monday, Oct. 26, and downed the visiting Jets 46-14.
The Red Raiders scored on their second play of the opening drive when Trey Woodyard hit Logan Minner with a 52-yard scoring pass. Hayden Vasey scored the 2-point conversion and London led 8-0. On their second possession Woodyard rambled 15 yards for a TD and a 14-0 advantage.
Midway through the second quarter Vasey ran 45 yards for a score and Ethan Minner added the conversion run for a 22-0 margin. London closed out the quarter scoring when Woodyard hit Riley Fisher with a 32-yard scoring pass. Kaleb Goodwin added the conversion for a 30-0 halftime lead.
With a second half running clock, Woodyard and Ethan Minner hooked up on a 15-yard TD pass. McWhinney added the two points for a 38-0 London lead.
After a Jets score, Vasey closed out the Raider scoring with a 35 yard TD scamper. Logan Minner tacked on the 2-point conversion. Northeastern added the final score to set the final margin at 46-14.
Vasey was London’s leading rusher with 109 yards on five carries. Woodyard was 4 of 6 through the air for 123 yards and 3 touchdowns. Logan Minner was the Red Raiders leading tackler with seven stops, followed closely by Alden McCoy with six tackles
With this win the seventh grade Red Raiders closed their season with an 7-1 record, notching seven straight victories after an opening-game loss.
