The Jonathan Alder girls soccer team moved one step closer to a Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference (MOAC) championship and are possibly one game away from a double-figure win total.
The Lady Pioneers (9-2, 7-0) had little trouble taking care of host Buckeye Valley 6-1 in MOAC play Monday, Sept. 28. The win allowed Alder to stay one game ahead of Fairbanks (8-3-1, 6-1) in the chase for a league crown.
Senior standout Alivia Milesky scored a pair of goals, while Autumn Devine, Kristen Beachy, Alexa Toler and Lilly Hess all added goals of their own. Lady Pioneers keeper Nora Squires saw limited action in goal as Alder dominated play and kept the ball in the Barons end of the field most of the night.
Alder will be back in action Wednesday, Sept. 30, at home against Marion Harding, starting at 7 p.m. and will also play at Marysville Saturday, Oct. 3, at noon. The team will play in a key first-place MOAC clash Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Fairbanks.

The Lady Roughriders (3-5-1) were expecting to have a less than spectacular record this season simply because of who was on the season schedule.
West Jefferson coach Jason Phillips knew that he had a talented team coming back this year, but insisted that if the Roughriders were going to have success in the postseason they were going to need to play against better competition in the regular season.
So he beefed up the schedule and the Roughriders are finding wins hard to come by, but his tactic of needing to play good teams in order to get better is starting to pay dividends. West Jeff played a solid Columbus Academy squad to a scoreless tie Monday evening.
“We have never beaten them so it was kind of a moral victory I guess,” Phillips said.
West Jeff standout keeper Ashtyn Webb had nine saves in goal.
The team will next play host to Bexley Wednesday, Sept. 30, starting at 5:30 p.m.
