The goal for any high school soccer team would be to win a district title.
The quest to hoist a district championship trophy begins next week for all of the Madison County High School boys soccer squads as the Central District tournament gets underway.
As the 10th seed (out of 21) in D-III West Jefferson is the highest seed of the county boys teams.
The Roughriders (7-5-3) will play host to No. 12 Liberty Union (4-7) at 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 16 in the postseason opener for both squads.
The winner of this first-round tilt will advance to play at No. 4 seed Wellington on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
The top seed in D-III is Grandview, followed by Grove City Christian, Worthington Christian and Wellington.
Jonathan Alder (7-5-2) received the 12th seed (out of 27) in D-II and will have a home match to open the tourney. The Pioneers will play host to No. 13 Heath (9-5-1) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17. The winner between the Pioneers and Bulldogs will advance to play at No. 8 Beechcroft (7-6-1).
No. 19 London (4-10) will travel to Fairfield County to take on No. 14 Amanda-Clearcreek (6-7-3) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
St. Francis DeSales is the No. 1 ranked D-II team in Ohio and is the Central District’s top seed. Bexley is No. 2 followed by Granville, Columbus Academy and Bloom-Carroll.
