LMS teams pounds Teays Valley

The London Middle School football programs rolled to lopsided victories Monday against visiting Teays Valley.

Seventh grade

The London Middle School Raiders seventh grade football team hosted Teays Valley West on Monday, Sept. 18, and prevailed by the score of 42-0.

Tim Seagle, Brady Carter and Sean Johns rushed for touchdowns, and Carter also threw for two scores to Kobi Payne and Jacob Payne.

Kobi Payne scored a 2-point conversion, while Seagle scored four extra points. Averie Clifton blocked a punt and returned it for a 45-yard touchdown.

London led 36-0 at half, and the entire second half was played under the OHSAA running clock rule.

Carter led the London rushers with 99 yards and Seagle added 83 yards. Carter threw for 68 yards and Jacob Payne hauled in 64 yards receiving.

Clifton had a monster game defensively, logging 13 tackles with three for losses, in addition to the blocked punt score. Johns added four stops.

London is now 3-0-1 and plays host to Madison-Plains Monday, starting at 5 p.m.

Eighth grade

The London Middle School eighth graders also hosted Teays Valley West Monday at Bowlus Field and came away with a 52-0 victory. London led 46-0 at half, and the second half like the seventh grade game was played under the running clock rule.

Dylan Combs rushed for a 65-yard touchdown on the opening play, then threw for four touchdowns. Isaiah Jones had two receiving touchdowns and Antwaun Burns and Carson Greenhill had one receiving touchdown apiece.

Jones and Greenhill had 2-point conversion runs and Antwaun Burns had three. Trey Russell and Greenhill returned fumbles for 60 and 42-yard touchdowns respectively.

Burns led the defense with five tackles and Jones, Jonathan Schooley and Russell had four tackles each.

London is now 4-0 for the season, and next week’s game has not been confirmed at this date.
