The West Jefferson High School football team barely broke a sweat Friday in moving to 4-0, as it cruised past host Cedarville 61-14.
Senior quarterback Lance Lambert lead the way for the Roughriders (4-0, 2-0) throwing for a pair of touchdowns and running in another.
His first score was a 63-yard pass to Caleb VanHook early in the first quarter. He scored on a 24-yard with 3:09 to go in the opening frame. Wyatt Dillion scored the first of his two scores on the final play of the first quarter, a 6-yard run. He also scored on a 30-yard run early in the third quarter.
Lambert was 11 of 12 for 239 yards, he found Austin Swaney for 17 yards early in the second quarter.
Gabe Jones (four rushes, 78 yards, two touchdowns) scored the first of his two touchdowns midway through the second quarter on a 20-yard run, he added a 50-yard scamper in the second half. Ethan Higgins also scored a pair of touchdowns on runs of 6 and 5 yards.
The Roughriders defense was solid, limiting Cedarville (0-4) to 187 yards of offense. West Jeff racked up 478 yards, 239 of which came through the air.
West Jeff will play host to Springfield Catholic Central Friday, starting at 7 p.m.
