Red Raiders stay busy


The London High School volleyball team continues to play well picking up a pair of wins over the weekend.

The Red Raiders (5-1) topped both Springfield Catholic Central and Kenton Ridge Saturday, Sept. 2 in holiday weekend action.

The win over Catholic Central was 25-15, 25-17, and the win over the Cougars was much tougher coming in the form of a close 25-23, 28-26 victory.

Addison Conley had 10 kill, 18 digs in the win against Catholic Central. Destiny Ellars had 17 digs and Arianna Calloway dished out 24 assists and posted 11 digs. Madison Miller (10 digs) also had a strong match.

Ellars and (17 digs) and Conley (25 digs) led the way defensively against Kenton Ridge. Calloway did a good job of running the Raiders’ offense.

Girls soccer

The Red Raiders (0-3) will have a big week ahead as they play two tough squads.

The team will play host to Bexley Wednesday, Sept. 6, and then will tangle with Jonathan Alder Saturday, Sept. 9 at Mapfre Stadium. Both contests will begin at 7 p.m.

Boys soccer

London (1-3) will return to the field Wednesday to play at Bexley at 7 p.m. and then again Saturday, Sept. 9, in a home game against Washington Court House at 11 a.m.

Cross country

Both Red Raiders team competed in the Granville Invitational Saturday, Sept. 2.

The boys team had enough runners to compete as a team, but the girls squads didn’t have enough so it had runners competing as individuals.

The top finisher on the girls side was Jordan Marco (21:27, 36th), other runners on the girls side were Ellie Shoemaker, Kaylynn Martinez and Arianna Douglas.

The boys team finished 12th out of 14 teams, finishing with 305 points. The event champion was Lexington with 39 points.

Senior Nicky Alexander was 20th in a time of 17:27. Senior Lance Cahill was 54th (18:20), Dalton Johnson (88th, 19:35), Dominic Davis was (89th, 19:39.4) and Lucas Brenstuhl (20:00.8) all factored into the scoring.
