The sun was shining high in the cloudless blue sky Tuesday morning. Temperatures were in the low 70s with low humidity and a slight breeze blew through Madison County. It was proof positive that Mother Nature is indeed a football fan.

The high school football programs from both London and West Jefferson were playing the first scrimmage of the season for both schools on Bowlus Field in what can only be described as perfect conditions.

Both the host Red Raiders and visiting Roughriders will have a couple more scrimmages before opening up the regular season Aug. 25. London will play at Urbana that night, while West Jefferson will host the Columbus Crusaders.
