On Friday, July 14, the National Tractor Pullers Association (NTPA) teams with the Madison County Fair Board in London to present the Madison County Fair NTPA Pull. Part of the NTPA Championship Pulling Series, the event will include four Regional National classes beginning at 7 p.m.

In truck and tractor pulling, vehicles drag a 20-ton weight transfer sled along a straight, dirt track as the sled’s resistance increases. Within a class of similar vehicles, the puller that achieves the greatest distance is victorious. The NTPA is the world’s number one sanctioning organization for premier level events that feature highly specialized machines resembling farm tractors, trucks, and dragsters and dedicated competitors that battle for purse money and end-of-season championships. With superchargers emitting an ear-splitting whine, massive tires churning clay at 100 mph wheelspeeds, turbochargers pumping columns of diesel smoke into the sky, and engine combinations exceeding 10,000 horsepower, high-performance pulling offers fans a multitude of thrills unmatched by any other motorsport.

On the card for the Madison County Fair Pull are Light Pro Stock Tractors, Two Wheel Drive and Super Stock Diesel 4×4 Trucks, and Modified Minis. Licensed competitors will earn points toward championships in Region II (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio; LT PS, TWD: RN II-East), and Light Pros, Two Wheel Drives, and Minis will additionally battle for berths in the 31st Enderle Memorial Pull-Off all-star invitational in Urbana, Ohio on Saturday, Sept. 16. The Light Pro Stock and Two Wheel Drive classes are also part of the Franklin Equipment Summer Showdown. The three-event series for these two classes continues in Wilmington and concludes in Hamilton.

Class winners from the 2016 Madison County Fair Pull included Larry Black of Camden, Ohio (“Endless Torment” LT PS), Russ Nichols of Lore City, Ohio (“On the Edge” TWD), Don Bowling of Fostoria, Ohio (“Pulling for the Cure” SSD 4×4), and Todd Bultman of Zeeland, Michigan (“Stress Relief” MINI). Region II class champions from last season were Kendall Houk of Lynchburg, Ohio (“Nothing Special” LT PS), Randy Petro of Camden, Ohio (“Vintage Kathy’s Komplaint” TWD), Van Haisley of Fairmount, Indiana (“Rock Hard Ram” SSD 4×4), and Bultman.
