The Ohio Valley Region recently announced the rosters for the 2016 USA Volleyball High Performance Program and Jonathan Alder High School and Elite Volleyball Training Center’s Corinne Parker was selected to the squad.
Parker was selected from a record-number of players who tried out. Only 10 players from the youth group were chosen to represent the OVR at the USAV High Performance Championships being held in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. July 19-23.
The High performance department works to advance volleyball talent and build a broader and stronger pipeline of athletes and coaches for the USA Olympic Teams.
The High Performance Program bridges the gap between the USA National teams and the youth volleyball programs across the country. This is done through a system of national tryouts which then qualify athletes for training programs, camps, and youth and junior national teams.
The high performance program at USA Volleyball is the “pipeline” for volleyball athletes who aspire to reach the elite level of their sport and is intended to grow the pool of talented young players who may someday compete for a spot on the USA National and Olympic teams.
The OVR is one of the largest of the 40 regional volleyball associations of USA Volleyball (USAV). Geographically, the Ohio Valley Region includes the states of Ohio and West Virginia, and bordering counties (Erie, Crawford, Mercer, Lawrence, Beaver, Washington, Green) of Western Pennsylvania.
