Plain City 10u All-Stars make memories

Staff report

The Plain City Area Ball Association (PCABA) held it’s 10u All-Star Baseball game on Kaiser Field in the Village’s historic Pastime Park Sunday, June 12.

The Mayor of the Village of Plain City, Darrin Lane, threw the ceremonial first pitch to Luke Goode, the catcher for the Plain City Cardinals.

When asked if he would do the honor of throwing the first pitch Mayor Lane immediately jumped on board and said, “I would love to, I spent some of my best times on that field and look forward to supporting the association in the future.”

Plain City has four 10u teams (Plain City Cardinals, Plain City Oakland Athletics, Plain City Milwaukee Brewers and Plain City Rockies) in this 2016 season. The coaches for each team selected five players to compete in the game.

“It was really fun playing with the Cardinals and playing with my friend,” said Will Jackson, one of the pitchers for the Brewers.

The 20 players were split into two teams (Rockies/Athletics coached by Zack Dicky and Chad Hines and the Cardinals/Brewers coached by Rob Long and Matt Dunlap).

The final score of the competition was 8-3 with the Rockies/Athletics squad prevailing. A try out for all players hoping to earn a spot on the 2016 10u All-Star team was held Wednesday, June 15. The team will play in four tournaments during the month of July. photo
