Deputies become servers for fundraising effort

Fifteen deputies of the Madison County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association traded their uniforms and sidearms for aprons, order pads, soft drinks, apple pie and a lot of fun Monday evening.They opted to become servers and bus people at the association’s third annual fund-raising dinner held at Der Dutchman in Plain City. The event raised approximately $1,200 that will help finance the association’s annual food basket Christmas Box program. From 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., the association received 15 percent of each customer’s bill.

 

PC book club discusses fall favorites

The October meeting of the Plain City Book Club was held at the home of Miriam Beachy with Sue Anne Pieroni serving as co-hostess. Books are on the ballot in West Jefferson.The Hurt/Battelle Memorial Library is seeking renewal of a tax levy passed in 2009.
