34 busted in major drug sweep

Officers from five law enforcement agencies swept through London, West Jefferson and a few outlying communities early Wednesday to arrest 34 suspected drug dealers and users.“Operation Bases-Loaded” topped a four-month investigation by the Madison County Drug Task Force into the illegal sale of prescription painkillers, cocaine and most importantly — heroin. Some charges also involved weapons violations.Beginning at 7:15 a.m., teams of deputy U.S. Marshals, Madison County Sheriff’s deputies, agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and officers from the London and West Jefferson police departments fanned out across the county with warrants in hand.

Circleville man identified as victim at Deer Creek

The man who died on Monday at Deer Creek Lake has been identified. He is John M. White of Circleville.White was in his fishing boat Monday afternoon when he was stricken with what has been described as a medical incident. Man dies after going overboard at Deer Creek

A 53-year-old man fishing on the lake at Deer Creek State Park died Monday afternoon of an apparent medical condition after bystanders said he fell overboard his boat.The man was apparently fishing alone in a fiberglass boat when a 911 call was placed, according to Eileen Corson, spokesperson for Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
