The library has lost $130,000 annually in funding since 2008 from state cuts, the depreciation of its local levy and other declining revenue sources.
The library levy is a renewal of 1.2 mils with a slight increase of 0.3 mils. What does that mean to your pocketbook? For those of you whose homes are valued at $100,000, that is $45 a year. For others, it could be less.
The levy will support 75 percent of the library’s materials budget, which includes new books, movies, audiobooks, video games, and magazines. The levy will support staff members and library programming for children, teens and adults.
Bring back Sunday and fall hours at the library. Restore staffing levels to better serve our community. Add digital services such as Hoopla – online streaming movies, audiobooks and music. Invest in materials and services for early literacy, at-risk students and adult education.
Vote yes on the library levy – our community is worth it!
