The 2014 London Red Raiders varsity football team had their opening scrimmage on Tuesday, Aug. 12, against Blanchester High School.
London came up short in the contest five scores to three, but a large number of young Raiders received valuable first-time varsity experience, while a collection of varsity veterans contributed put up some impressive numbers.
Junior quarterback Zane Foucht was 12-for-14 passing with 262 yards and two touchdowns. Both touchdown receptions were hauled in by junior Michael Johnson. Johnson had four catches, for 162 yards in the game. Senior Ben Martin had five catches for 72 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, junior Skylor Calhoun had 11 tackles, including two for losses. Sophomore J.T. Martin and Johnson each recorded six tackles.
London’s second scrimmage will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, against visiting Amanda-Clearcreek. Admission is free.
