The Denny Morris Baseball Classic will be played on Saturday, May 3 at Westfall High School between Madison-Plains and Westfall. The doubleheader will start at noon.

Both Madison-Plains and Westfall high schools have strong ties to the former coach Denny Morris.

Coach Morris played baseball at Madison South High School and then coached at Westfall High School before going to Madison-Plains High School as the head baseball coach for over 20 years. His teams at Madison-Plains High School were always some of the most competitive squads in Central Ohio, winning eight straight district titles and eight league championships.

His love of the game continued on and was passed on to his son, Joe Morris, who played and excelled at Westfall High School, earning All-Ohio honors three times in baseball. Denny also put in countless hours of hard work to make many improvements to the field at both high schools.

The Morris Classic will become an annual event between Westfall and Madison-Plains to honor the coach’s time and commitment to both schools and baseball programs.
