If you seek God He can be found

I was standing on the golf course the other day, waiting for the foursome ahead of us to hit their approach shot so we could tee off. All of a sudden, I noticed just how “noisy” it was. Usually, on a golf course, things are pretty quiet. Golf is not a sport where there is typically a lot of noise. Many times, all you can hear is your own breath as you walk down the fairway to the next green. But this day was different.

As I listened, I realized where the “noise” was coming from. One of the sounds was a woodpecker on a nearby tree looking for his breakfast. Other sounds were a flock of geese flying overhead and a family of ducks quacking as they swam around in one of the ponds. I noticed several squirrels running here and there as well as several chipmunks scurrying from tree to tree. A couple of rabbits were busy munching on some clover and the robins were letting us know they were there too. In the distance, we could hear the rumble of thunder and watched as the black clouds began to move our way. Fortunately for us, they headed more north and we did not get any of the rain that seemed to be coming our way.

We watched the sun break out from behind the clouds, felt the cool breeze on our faces, and enjoyed a really great day — a day made especially for us by the Creator of the Universe.

Here’s the point for this week’s article. How can anyone look around and not see God? The Bible says that “The heavens declare the glory of God and the sky proclaims the work of His hands.” (Psalm 19:1) In other words, all you have to do is look around at what nature has to show us and you can see the hand of God in it. As if on cue, the seasons change and what was seemingly “dead” for three months, begins to bloom again in life during the season we call spring.

My wife’s flowers and the trees on our property show signs of life again as they blossom in leaf and flower. A friend of mine witnessed the birth of twin fawns in her backyard and one of our church member’s mares gave birth to two foals. The temperature changes, rainfall and snowfall are measured out so that there is enough to sustain what has been created. Look at a sunrise or a sunset, see the beautiful colors in the sky and tell me there isn’t a God who made all of this.

Some people believe in the “Big Bang” theory. And, you know what … so do I! I do! I believe God said it, there was a “Big Bang” and Creation was established. God was behind the “Big Bang” as He is with everything in this Universe. So to say there is no God is to be a foolish person. Why do I say that? Because the Bible says, “The fool has said in his heart there is no God.” (Psalm 14:1)

Last week, I wrote about how to find God and how to receive the gift of eternal life. God loves us. God loves you. In spite of everything you have ever done in your life God loves you. If you are searching for God in your life, He can be found. I invite you to seek Him this weekend and start a relationship with the God of all Creation. If you do not have a church “home” we invite you to check out Crossroads. We are a “different” type of church — casual dress, contemporary worship — live praise team — relevant messages and a whole congregation of people who love the Lord and will love you too. We’d love to see you and your family this Sunday, and we will also give you a free Schuler’s donut and a free cup of coffee. It’s on us.

And that is Something to Think About for this week.

If you are on Facebook, you can watch our service “live” on Sunday morning at 10:45 a.m. Simply “like” our Facebook page at Crossroadslondon and watch.
