Last week I wrote about us being God’s jewels and that I had seen a lady ahead of me in a checkout lane wearing a huge diamond ring that looked fake to me because of its size and color. And then I explained that there are a lot of things in this world that are fake, including some people who think they are Christians, yet they are not.
I had a lady show me her ring this week and asked me if I thought it was real. It too, was a huge stone, but anyone could tell it was real — so I told her I thought it was real and she said, “See, I do read your articles!” So, a special thank you to everyone who follows this column each week. I enjoy writing it and I hope you enjoy reading it.
This week, I want to share that we are God’s Masterpiece. It’s great to have Mr. Sun back with us after about 32 days of rain. I was concerned that I might begin growing webs between my toes. But one day, during all of the storms we have been receiving, I stood in our driveway as the storm approached our house and watched the lightening and listened to the thunder.
I asked Beth how anyone could doubt there was a God. Even in nature, God reveals Himself. Look at a beautiful sunset, or a beautiful sunrise. How majestic! Or take in a fresh snowfall on the mountains, or the crystal clear waters off a sandy beach somewhere. Look at the aquatic life with all of their color, the different types of beautiful birds and animals, the gorgeous types of flowers and shrubs and trees we have that spread forth their color in the summer and in the fall. And then tell me there is no God.
But the greatest creation of all — God’s Masterpiece, if you will — is you! God created us in His image, so there was a time where man was perfect because God is perfect. But then, we know that sin entered the world and because of sin, death entered the world too. And not only death, but disease and sickness and divorce and murder and all the by-products of sin.
Yet, God loved us so much that He allowed His Son to die on a cross for the payment of our sin. Jesus’ death paid for your sin and for mine. And God offers to us, the free gift of eternal life, if we will reach out and accept it. Because eternal life is a gift, it must be received. And once you receive it, your name is written in the Book of Life and you are guaranteed eternity in Heaven with God!
That to me is pretty neat! To think that we are God’s Masterpiece. To Him, we are more beautiful than anything else He created. He loves us more than anything else too. In fact, we are the apple of His eye and someone has said, “If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be hanging on it!”
You are God’s delight! You are the apple of God’s eye! You are God’s Masterpiece! So when you are down and having a bad day, just remember, that even though the whole world is coming against you, God is for you and He is in your corner cheering you on.
If you are uncertain of where you are going to spend your eternity, and if you have any doubts about whether your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, please let me know, I’d be happy to talk with you.
And that is Something To Think About for this week.
