The American Legion Jefferson Post No. 201 recently presented to the Village of West Jefferson 50 flags to line Main Street and a new flag for the flag pole. The post has been doing this since the early 1940s when the auxiliary used to place flag poles along the street for different holidays such as Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. Gary Heiman, First Vice Commander, left, and Donald Wright, Post Commander, presents Mayor Darlene Steele, the large flag for the flag pole. Steele is also holding a certificate of appreciation for all of the flags.
