At approximately 6:56 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, the Union County Sheriff’s communication center received a cellular 9-1-1 call to report of the possibility of a person or persons which had fallen into a pond located at 9500 Harriot Road.

Jerome Township Division of Fire personnel responded and on arrival was advised that the two juveniles that were reported to have been in the area were both accounted for and with their parents.

Jerome Township Firefighters investigated the frozen pond using their ice rescue sled and ice rescue suits for the possibility of any hidden holes in the ice.

Additional mutual aid companies with rescue boats were requested from Pleasant Valley Joint Fire District and Concord Township, but were canceled while they were en route. Also assisting were deputies from the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

There were no injuries to any first responders or civilians on the scene.
