COLUMBUS — One block of Mound Street between Fourth and Fifth streets will close for two months beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 3 as part of the I-70/71 Mound Street connector project.
Work began last year on the $27 million project that will build a new bridge/ramp from Interstate 70 west to Mound Street. The project is expected to be complete this Fall.
One block of Mound Street has to close so the contractor, Complete General Construction, can reconstruct the roadway. The posted detour for northbound traffic is Main Street to Fifth Street. If you travelling southbound on Mound Street, the detour is Fifth Street to Fulton to Fourth Street.
One lane of Fourth Street will also be closed for the same two months between East Engler Street and East Noble Street. There will still be four lanes of Fourth Street open to traffic.
By May 5, weather permitting, all lanes on Mound Street and Fourth Street are expected to be open.
