In honor of the late Carol Daniels’ birthday, “Lemonade Day” was held at London Elementary School on Wednesday. Daniels’ favorite quote was “When life gives you lemons… make lemonade!” which lead to the theme for the day.

Daniels was the late London Elementary School principal who passed away July 9.

All of the staff wore T-shirts with the quote on the back. The students were all mostly dressed in yellow, and some children even had clothes with lemons on them. Kristen Crane, kindergarten teacher at London Elementary School, had multiple activities incorporating lemons for her students. One that the kids enjoyed a lot was making playdough.

Crane made lemonade scented playdough from scratch and had some help from her students. The students had a lot of fun playing and molding the playdough on their desks. She also made popsicle stand photo frames for the kids to bring home.

Other teachers who got into the lemonade theme were Stacy Alderman and Eileen Arikawa who both teach third grade. Arikawa had decorated her room with yellow streamers to get her students excited for the day.

In memory of Carol Daniels, a bench was donated by Robbie Abbott and Debbie Griffith. The bench will be located in the hallway when first entering the elementary building.
