London School Board names new district treasurer

“I have some very big shoes to fill,” said Trevor Gummere, the new Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer for the London City School District.

Gummere’s comments came just moments after he was appointed unanimously at a special meeting of the London City School Board, and was referring to outgoing School District Treasurer Kimberly Blind.

“I have known Kimberly professionally for at least 10 years,” he said. “She is a very knowledgeable person, and has served as a mentor and role model for a number of treasurers.”

Blind has accepted the position as Treasurer with the Gahanna Jefferson Local School District in Franklin County. Gummere starts officially Oct. 2 in London, but he said he will be working before then with Blind getting him acclimated in the new job.

“I am ecstatic and excited,” Gummere said after the school board vote. “And so are we,” said Board President Darryl Brown after the vote was taken.

Supt. Dr. Lou Kramer said that the board has been conducting an extensive search to fill Blind’s position. “As part of the process, the Board reviewed 17 applications for the position and interviewed several current treasurers before selecting Mr. Gummere,” he said.

Brown noted experience, conservative ideals and presence as factors in his hiring. “During his career and during our interview process, Trevor’s leadership, experience and clear understanding of school district finance were apparent. Although we are sad to see Kris leave, we are excited to have Trevor joining our LCS team,” Brown said.

Gummere is presently employed by the Mount Gilead Exempted Village School District in Morrow County, where he has served as treasurer the last eight years.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Bowling Green State University and his treasurer’s license in 2003. He is pursuing a master’s Degree in Business management from Tiffin University.

Beyond his duties as a school treasurer, Gummere also serves his current community as a trustee for the Central Ohio Mental Health Board.
