With the first day of school just a few days away, Jonathan Alder Superintendent Gary Chapman, gave some insight on this upcoming school year.
“I’m always excited about the new year, with the energy and the excitement that it brings when students finally arrive. It’s a fresh, new beginning,” Chapman said.
This year, Jonathan Alder has eight new staff members. “It’s a change too, and new faces. I’m just excited for everything that the school year brings from the academic, athletic, and extracurriculars,” Chapman said.
The first day of school for students is Wednesday, Aug. 16.
Enrollment wise, the Jonathan Alder school district is expecting an increase in the number of Kindergartners this year.
As far as overall student enrollment, an increase or decrease cannot be determined until the first day of school.
Expenses this year are expected to be the same as last year other than the 21st Century Grant which is ending its commitment with Monroe Elementary this year.
There are also no major changes to the bus route this year for Jonathan Alder. “We pretty much stay consistent from year to year,” said Chapman.
“You always have surprises that first day, but we work through them. We have good people taking care of all of those departments.”
This year, school times are as follows:
