Seventy years ago, the greatest amphibious assault in history was unfurled on the Normandy coast.
The June 6, 1944 D-Day operation overload would open the door to freedom to Nazi held Europe.
American and British troops would start the battle to drive German forces out of France.
The great Atlantic wall with its powerful artillery and machine gun emplacements were destroyed by our troops in one day.
But with like all battles, freedom comes with a cost. The allies had almost 10,000 either killed or wounded.
We must never forget that day in history.
God bless USA.
