One person has died following a crash on Interstate 71 in Madison County Tuesday, officials said.
The accident closed down the northbound lanes of the road near mile marker 87 at about 4:30 p.m., according to the Circleville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
A semi-truck overturned and at least one other vehicle was heavily damaged, according to scanner traffic.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released.
One lane of traffic reopened at approximately 5:30 p.m. Another lane remained closed throughout the evening as wreckers cleared the scene.
The location of the accident is about three miles north of the state Route 56 exit near the Madison-Pickaway county line.
The crash remains under investigation.
