City of London worker Reid Snow sinks an anchor inside the quarter pipe platform on Friday, June 27. He and his fellow workers installed various skateboard apparatuses in the newly paved area of the park on Park Avenue. The various skater “trick” apparatuses were obtained through a grant of $20,000, according to Steve Hume, city safety-service director. The city repaved the area with fresh asphalt at a cost of $17,000. It will be opened to the general public following the posting of signs. They will advise skaters they use it at their own risk and they must use protective gear as they skate. Hume said a grand opening is tentatively set for Tuesday, July 1.
