The London Police Department officially grew by one member Thursday morning.

Laura Wilson was sworn in by Mayor Dave Eades as a part-time officer with the department.

She has served as an auxiliary officer with LPD since February 2014. She graduated from the police academy at Columbus State Community College in May 2013.

“I’m most looking forward to the experience and more training,” Wilson said.

She hopes to one day become a K-9 unit, and perhaps eventually serve as a sergeant or police chief. She is currently going through the process to become a full-time officer, she said.

Wilson is a 2011 graduate of Madison-Plains High School.

She is the daughter of Steve and Mary Wilson, of London, the sister of Emily Wilson and the granddaughter of Clara Mullett.
