The fledgling London Football Gridiron Club held its second fundraiser, a golf outing and pig roast at the National Road Golf Course near West Jefferson, on Saturday, July 19.

About 15 teams, made up of 60 local residents, participated in the event. Backing came from 45 sponsors, according to D.J. Jones, the club’s spokesperson.

“We’re getting behind the new head coach (Kyle Cutler) and the football program,” Jones said.

A “meet the coach dinner” on June 30 introduced Cutler and raised money needed for an end zone camera system.

The group also plans to fund scholarships, buy equipment for players who need it and supply food for team events, Jones said.

An active booster club will not only provide financial support and lift awareness for London High School’s football program, but also bring civic pride back to a community often plagued by negatives, Jones said.

Information regarding Gridiron Club activities and memberships is available on Facebook.

Donations may be directed to London Football Gridiron Club at P.O. Box 82, London, OH 43140.
