The 12th annual Plain City Classic Car Cruise-In, presented by Bob Chapman Ford, is returning to the village streets with a new date.

The show, which includes collector cars, trucks, and motorcycles from around the Midwest, will take place Saturday, Aug. 23 as opposed to the first weekend in August, as has been done in the past.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. vintage vehicles will line Main Street and Chillicothe Street in Uptown Plain City. Cruise-In-goers will be able to take a trip down memory lane, side-by-side with vintage vehicles like a 1957 Thunderbird, a 1936 Chevy pickup or over 200 other fine automobiles.

With an estimated crowd of no less than 2,000 eyeing decades of automotive heritage, DJ Mac Thomas will spin the classic tunes. Additionally, goody bags will be distributed to the first 75 entries and the first 100 will receive dash plaques. Returning are the 50/50 raffle and a prize raffle for items like grilling accessories, gift certificates and gift baskets.

Guests will also enjoy festival-type food such as hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, and kettle korn. Local eateries Ol’ 42 Grubhouse and Plain City Pub will fire up the oven and grill for the crowd.

Award categories will again include dated classes, Top 40, choice awards, and Best of Show. All vehicles are welcome; trucks, cars, and motorcycles are included. As is tradition for this show, some awards are handmade by local talent.

Registration runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is $10 in advance and $13 the day of the show. Online registration can be found at www.uptownplaincity.com. Registration forms can also be printed and mailed in advance or to be completed and brought to the registration desk the day of the event before 2 p.m. All mailed entries must be postmarked by Aug. 18, 2014.

Supported by the community, the Cruise-In is sponsored by the following: Bob Chapman Ford, E&R Tires, Der Dutchman Restaurant, Carlisle Gifts, Main Street Treasures, Security National Bank, C Side Creative, Lovejoy’s Market IGA, The Mid-Ohio School, Plain City Druggist, Miller Family Chiropractic, Edgewater Place Assisted Living, Plain City Fitness, Bizarre Dimensions, DESIGNetwork, and Wolfe & Sons Heating & Cooling.
