Firefighters from Madison and Franklin counties responded to a house fire on McClimansville Cemetery Road in Mount Sterling just after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27.

They arrived to see flames blowing out the kitchen windows at 10857 McClimansville Cemetery Road. However, the fire was under control within a half hour.

Chief Dave Taylor of the Tri-County Joint Fire District in Mount Sterling said the blaze appeared to start in the kitchen and left that room heavily damaged.

Thick smoke left the remainder of the home uninhabitable, Taylor added.

Firefighters from Pleasant Township in Franklin County, Range Township and the City of London, responded at 5:13 p.m. to a blaze.

Medical personnel from the Mount Sterling Joint Ambulance District also rushed to the scene.

Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
