Members of the Madison County Drug Task Force recovered a handgun, drugs and cash, following the search of a London apartment on Monday.
Officers arrested Michael Garrett II, 28, of Delaware, on drug possession charges. Garrett, who has local connections, was indicted by the county grand jury last week.
They also arrested Kristopher Miller, 33, of London, on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear at a municipal court hearing.
According to a press release issued by city police, task force officers executed a search warrant at 13 Fairview Ave. about 8 p.m. on May 19.
They encountered Garrett and Miller outside the apartment. Garrett was allegedly carrying cocaine and a concealed firearm.
The subsequent search turned up additional narcotics, cash and drug paraphernalia in the apartment.
Miller’s girlfriend lives at the address, along with her 4-year-old child. Both were present during the arrests and search.
Garrett and Miller were taken to Tri-County Regional Jail.
Additional firearm and drug charges will be filed against Garrett. The unidentified girlfriend will also face drug-related charges, the press release said.
The London Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the West Jefferson Police Department assisted with the arrests and search.
