First-grade students in Sarah Greenbaum's class at Plain City Elementary recently learned about newspapers. Andrea Chaffin, editor of The Madison Press and Plain City Advocate, spoke to students about “informational” writing, which means including information about who, what, when, where and why when writing stories. The students had an opportunity to ask questions about the newspaper. Each student received their own copy of a newspaper, a balloon and bracelet to take home. Those interested in having the editor to speak to their group should contact Chaffin via email at achaffin@civitasmedia.com, or call (740) 852-1616, ext. 19.
