Christopher Brown will be the next judge of Madison County’s Probate/Juvenile Court, according to trending unofficial election results at Press time Tuesday night.

With 26 of 27 precincts counted, Brown bested opponent and fellow local attorney Richard Dunkle with 60 percent of the votes. Brown received 1,629 votes, while Dunkle received 1,128 votes.

Dunkle was gracious in apparent defeat and thanked Brown for a managing a clean campaign.

“I wish him the best of luck,” Dunkle said.

Dunkle also thanked all voters who supported him.

Brown, 45, has served as magistrate in Madison County Municipal Court since 2011. He has been practicing law in London since 1999 and in Columbus since 1995.

He received his law degree from Ohio Northern University in 1996, and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The Ohio State University in 1991.

A Madison-Plains High School graduate, Brown is a member of the Ohio Association of Magistrates, Madison County Republican Party Central Committee Executive Committee, Loving Care Hospice Board of Trustees and Madison County Farm Bureau, among other activities.

He could not be reached for comment by Press time on Tuesday.
