A Wilmington man and his wife died in a fiery one-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on State Route 350, at the intersection with State Route 134 in Clinton County, according to the Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Killed in the crash were the driver, Brad Reeder, 34, and his wife, Christina Reeder, 38, both of Kimlor Lane, Wilmington, said Sgt. Frank Simmons of the OHSP.

Brad Reeder was driving a 2005 Ford 150 pickup truck west on State Route 350. Simmons said Reeder failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of State Route 134.

“He (Brad) ran off the left side of the road, lost control of the vehicle, then ran off the road to the right and struck a tree,” Simmons said. “The vehicle then caught fire. The truck pretty much exploded (when it hit the tree),” he said.

The Reeders both died in the fire, according to the patrol. They were pronounced dead at the scene by an investigator for the Clinton County Coroner’s office.

Simmons said no one observed the crash when it happened, but shortly after, another motoris just happened upon the crash, according to the patrol.

The crash, which occurred at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday, remains under investigation. Simmons said alcohol is suspected as a cause of the crash.
