A worker with Moorhead Brothers Incorporated (MBI) died Monday morning, Jan. 13 in an accident on Simpson Road, just north of state Route 142, near London. The employee was trapped under a truck while unloading equipment to repair utility poles, according to Madison County Coroner James Kaehr, M.D. Units from Madison County EMD, Central Township Fire Department, the county sheriff’s office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded.

Upon arrival, troopers found a white, 2002 Sterling straight truck stopped in the middle of the roadway. A pedestrian crew member from the construction work site was found pinned underneath the truck and was later pronounced deceased by the Madison County EMS.

The Sterling truck was driven by Thomas Davis, 29, of Quaker City, Ohio. Mr. Davis was not injured. The pedestrian was identified as Nick Yurjevich Jr., 52, from Bergholz, Ohio.

As a result of the crash, Simpson Road was closed in both directions for approximately 3 hours. Representatives from OSHA and Moorhead Brothers, Inc. were at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
