Members of the Madison-Plains FFA Community Development Committee recently received a visit from Madison County Farm Bureau organizational director Steve Berk.
The committee is planning to hold a seminar series on issues impacting agricultural landowners. Meetings will be held on selected Wednesdays in the months of January and February in the Madison-Plains agriculture education classrooms and will feature presentations on variety of agricultural landowner topics.
Berk discussed the following key landowner issues with the Community Development Committee:
• Current Agricultural Use Evaluation (agriculture tax)
• Conservation programs
• Farm Bill
• Land succession planning
• Alternative energy
• Land leases (pipelines)
• Rural/urban interface (zoning issues)

The Madison-Plains FFA and Agriculture Education Department will be publishing the seminar schedule in late December.
