PFC Kayla Whitacre, 22, London, graduated from United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island on Sept. 11, 2015.
Whitacre successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive recruit training at MCRD Parris Island and earned the lifelong title of United States Marine.
While in recruit training, some of Whitacre’s accomplishments were qualifying expert in her rifle marksmanship. She also served as a platoon leader and platoon Guide, received the Molly Marine award and was an honor grad.
Whitacre was promoted to PFC as a result of these distinctions.
Following her leave at home, Whitacre will report to Camp Geiger in North Carolina to the School of Infantry for one month at Military Combat Training then to her Military Occupation Specialty School located at 29 Palms in California. She is hoping to be stationed in Okinawa or West Coast.
She is a 2010 graduate of London High School. She was a varsity football and basketball cheerleader and played varsity softball.
